College and Internships

While attending SUNY Oswego, I was heavily involved with the school's television station, WTOP-10. I worked on three talk shows as a host and producer, live news broadcasts, and helped conceptualize and write for our nightly news broadcasts and original programming. I served as social media director for the 2014-2015 school year, where I implemented social media protocol for the 150+ student group and created set guidelines for the station, promoting our social media presence, and increased our following on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

In addition, I had a radio show at WNYO, Oswego’s radio station. "The Pub" mostly focused on advice and talking about relevant news topics from a feminist perspective -- basically, it was a podcast before I knew what a podcast was. 

Throughout college I was lucky enough to gain real-world experience through three really interesting, valuable internships. Each has impacted me still to this day and taught me valuable lessons about the industry:

• Assisted reporters with news package by ways of researching locations, finding man-on-the-street interview candidates, pitching local news stories, etc

• Conducted pre-interviews for local segments
• Greeted and handled guests 
• Uploaded content to web post-show, posted to Facebook

• Helped find topics to discuss on daily morning talk show
• Screened callers and conducted pre-interviews
• Occasionally acted as on air-contributor 
• Worked as WFAS street team to promote station at local events
